Transfer To University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign

High Enrollment

This college is a frequent transfer destination for Black Hawk College students.

Transfer School Guidelines

Transfer GPA

In general, minimum 3.0. Students should strive for the “Admitted GPA” by major of 2.25-4.0 as shown in the Transfer Handbook. Also see Transfer GPA Guidelines of previously admitted transfer students to help assess your chance for admission. Final standards will depend on the number and qualifications of applicants to each program.

Minimum college credits to apply as transfer student

No minimum, though consult the Transfer Handbook for courses required prior to transfer. All transfer applicants must submit a high school transcript or GED certificate to confirm graduation; high school performance is only considered if you have fewer than 30 graded and transferable college credits.

Application deadlines

Submitting the application and all supporting materials as soon as possible may provide an advantage for programs with space limitations and many qualified applicants especially in Engineering, Business, Economics and Psychology.

Filing periods:

  • Spring 2024 – Sept. 15 – Oct. 15
  • Fall 2024 – Jan. 15 – April 5 (priority: by March 1, including all supporting materials). Application available in December.

Agreements & Special Programs

Transfer Admission Agreement – College of ACES (Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences)

Guaranteed admission to UIUC and the Colleges of ACES (specific majors not guaranteed).

  • Must meet and complete all requirements and documents included in the agreement, and all university general transfer admission and enrollment requirements. The transfer GPA and required university and program-specific pre-transfer courses are identified in the UIUC Transfer Handbook.

IAI Participant

This college or university participates in the Illinois Articulation Initiative.

The Illinois Articulation Initiative General Education Core Curriculum (IAI GECC) is a collection of general education courses that, when completed, an IAI participating institution agrees to accept in place of its own comparable lower-division general education requirements. Completing the IAI GECC works best for students who plan to transfer to an IAI participating school but who have not decided which one.

When the IAI GECC is not completed before transfer, the transfer school will evaluate general education courses on a course-by-course basis.

To see which BHC courses can be taken to complete the IAI GECC, please use the
